ISO 27001 INFORMATION SECURITY MANAGEMENT
ISO/IEC 27001 is a globally recognised standard for information security management systems, which specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an organisation’s information security management system. The standard promotes a risk-based approach to information security and is designed to help organisations manage and protect their valuable information assets.
The benefits of implementing the ISO/IEC 27001 standard include building trust with customers, stakeholders, and employees by demonstrating a commitment to information security, complying with relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, and establishing a culture of information security throughout the organisation. In addition, the standard provides a systematic approach to managing information security risks, which can help organisations to proactively identify and mitigate potential threats and vulnerabilities.
CYBER ESSENTIALS PLUS
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed, industry-supported scheme that provides a set of basic technical controls to help organisations protect themselves against common cyber threats.
Cyber Essentials Plus is an extension of the Cyber Essentials certification, which includes an independent assessment of an organisation’s cyber security measures. The benefits of Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation for Opus include customer reassurance, protection of sensitive data and intellectual property, compliance with tender requirements, and increased IT awareness.
Additionally, Cyber Essentials Plus includes authenticated vulnerability scanning, vulnerability scanning of external infrastructure, password guessing tests, email attachment and web browser download checks, and review of mobile devices.
Opus must ensure that its IT systems are updated and security controls remain effective to maintain its Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation. The ongoing checklist includes keeping software up to date, using suitable firewalls, ensuring strong passwords are used, changing passwords regularly, ensuring patch management processes are robust, and ensuring device software and applications are up-to-date.
The systematic approach of ISO 14001 helps Opus to identify opportunities for improvement, such as reducing waste and pollution, conserving energy and materials, and enhancing our environmental performance.

The Living Wage is currently set at £9.90 per hour outside of London and £10.85 per hour in London, which is higher than the UK government’s minimum wage. WE ARE COMMITTED TO ACHIEVING NET ZERO COMMISSIONS BY 2050
Opus has committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 and has set specific carbon reduction targets. The completed carbon reduction initiatives such as electric company vehicles only, closing the London office, and implementing hybrid working have led to a 19.53% reduction against the 2019 baseline. Our future carbon reduction initiatives being considered are implementing energy-efficient lighting, introducing electric-only vehicles, and working with the landlord to switch to renewable energy. Additionally, we are researching investing in technology for remote interaction and exploring hotel booking platforms to reduce carbon footprint from hotel bookings.
