With Microsoft’s announcement of imminent price changes, is it time you reviewed your Microsoft support contract? Read on to find out everything you need to know about the price changes, how they might affect your organisation and how Opus could help your business maximise the value of your existing Microsoft licences and minimise the impact of these global price changes.
What’s happening?
Microsoft recently announced changes to their commercial pricing for Microsoft 365 licensing. The first substantive Microsoft price increase since Office 365 was launched a decade ago, the pricing will increase by as much as 20% for some licences.
Microsoft are stating that the price increases reflect the increased value they have delivered to customers over the past 10 years, including the introduction of Microsoft 365 – bringing together the best of Office, Windows, and Enterprise Mobility and Security (EMS) and of course, the addition of Microsoft Teams where you can meet, chat, call, collaborate, and automate business processes – which proved invaluable to many businesses during lockdown.
When will the price increases take effect?
The Microsoft price increases will take effect from 1 March 2022 and will impact the following licences: Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Office 365 E1, Office 365 E3, Office 365 E5 and Microsoft 365.
What will the price increases cost my business?
We can help you to analyse what the monthly price increase is likely to cost your business. Please get in touch to discuss your licensing requirements with a member of our team.
What can I do to avoid these increases?
Whilst you cannot avoid the price increases completely, you are able in many cases to take out a new contract for up to 36 months to lock in the current pricing, thus delaying the price increases until a point in the future. You should also be reviewing the licences you are using currently, to ensure you are not paying for licences and applications you are no longer using.
How can Opus help reduce my Microsoft spend?
